ALERT!! Small-Business Leaders, Local Residents Host Green Jobs Event

ALERT!! This event is happening today, May 27th.


Local small-business leaders and residents of Seattle will host a green-jobs rally and tour of area clean energy homes on Wednesday, May 27, in the High Point neighborhood of West Seattle.


The event is being organized by the Seattle chapter of MoveOn.org, which has about 50,000 members in the Seattle metro area. At the rally, local residents will call on Congress to pass the American Clean Energy and Security Act, which the House of Representatives is expected to vote on this summer. If passed, the bill would create high-paying jobs, reduce electricity and heating costs for local households, and keep America competitive in the global economy.

WHEN: 4:00 pm, Wednesday, May 27, 2009. The tour is expected to last 1-2 hours.

KC Executive Candidate Forum and Straw Poll Event

The Young Democrats of Washington are hosting the King County Executive Candidates for a forum and straw poll on June 18th, 2009 at 6:30pm at the South Lake Union Discovery Center, 101 Westlake Ave N. Seattle, WA.


The individual entrance fee (includes one ballot):

  • $5 - Reduced Rate for College Students w/current college ID
  • $25 - Young Democrats (under 36)
  • $35 - YD’s at Heart/Community Members (over 36)

King County Council Special Town Hall Meeting

The King County Council will be holding a special Town Hall Meeting in Bellevue for a special briefing on the Greenway. They?€™ll discuss the origin and importance of the Greenway, how it serves the people of our region, and the major challenges facing the Greenway today. You will have a chance to ask questions of the panelists, share your ideas, and provide public testimony on any issue, including the legislation currently being considered to help protect 7,000 acres along the Raging River in the Mountains to Sound Greenway.
